Just recently, after a 10-year search, the mystery of Forrest Fenn’s hidden treasure, estimated to be worth a cool $1 million, was finally solved.
A decade is just a drop in the ocean compared to the mystery of the Santa Maria Madre de Deus, which was a Portuguese ship that disappeared without a trace in 1643.
It was believed that the ship sunk somewhere off the Eastern Cape coast, and until two spearfishermen poked around, many thought it would never be found.
