The Crown season four couldn’t come soon enough.
Seriously, I’m running out of stuff to watch on Netflix, to the point where I binged an entire season of the German karaoke show Sing On, recently.
There’s a Spanish version, too, but don’t bother watching both – they use the same songs.
But, I digress.
In season three, as the foundations were laid for Charles’ relationship with Camilla, fans knew that Diana would soon enter the picture and speculation was rife as to who would play her.
Emma Corrin landed the role and will make her debut as the princess in the upcoming season, with Elizabeth Debicki taking over from her in seasons five and six.
In the recently released trailer, we’re treated to a glimpse of Corrin in her new role:
Here’s the official synopsis, outlined by Netflix Life:
As the 1970s are drawing to a close, Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and her family find themselves preoccupied with safeguarding the line of succession by securing an appropriate bride for Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), who is still unmarried at 30.
As the nation begins to feel the impact of divisive policies introduced by Britain’s first female Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson), tensions arise between her and the Queen which only grow worse as Thatcher leads the country into the Falklands War, generating conflict within the Commonwealth.
While Charles’ romance with a young Lady Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin) provides a much-needed fairytale to unite the British people, behind closed doors, the Royal family is becoming increasingly divided.
It’s rumoured that Claire Foy, who played the Queen in seasons one and two, might return for a cameo in a flashback scene.
The Crown wrapped up filming the latest season in March, which will hit screens on November 15, 2020.
Sadly, while seasons five and six have been confirmed, it’s going to be a while before we get to watch them. Filming for the fifth season won’t happen until 2021, which indicates a 2022 release date.
And, before you ask, no, Meghan won’t be making an appearance in the show.
Sorry.
