The Crown is nearing the end of its reign as one of TV’s most popular series.

The critically acclaimed show that maps Queen Elizabeth’s journey from taking the throne onwards is edging towards its final two seasons.

It had to come to an end.

It’s nearing the point where camera crews would have had to go into Buckingham Palace and follow the actual Queen around.

As Charles navigated his role as a wet blanket in season three, alongside a long-running relationship with Camilla, fans knew that Diana would soon be in the picture and speculation was rife as to who would play her. Emma Corrin will make her debut as the princess in the upcoming season.

As of Sunday, we finally know who will take her place in seasons five and six.

Per Mashable, the official twitter account for The Crown has tweeted a few exciting cast announcements. Let’s check those out before we go on to Princess Di:

Yes, Dolores Umbridge from the Harry Potter films is going to be the Queen and she “will have order”.

On to Diana:

Elizabeth Debicki is an Australian actress who made her feature debut in A Few Best Men. She appeared in The Great Gatsby, for which she won an AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and starred in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of The Maids with Cate Blanchett and Isabelle Huppert.

If the series wants to end with a bang, the final season will likely cover the scandals, including Diana’s death, over the course of the Queen’s ‘Annus Horribilis’.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait one more season to meet Diana.

Season four of The Crown is expected to be released later this year. Olivia Colman will be back as the Queen, so that’s something to look forward to.

Pandemic-permitting, of course.
