Netflix is notoriously cagey with the information it releases to the public, but over the past few months, they have thrown out a few crumbs.
For example, they finally let the public know which of their original movies were the most popular with viewers, and I’m just glad Sandra Bullock didn’t score top place with Bird Box.
She didn’t deserve an Oscar for The Blind Side, which was a pile of garbage, and I won’t back down on that front.
Oh, and during a recent podcast interview, Netflix vice president of product Todd Yellin said that the iconic “ta-dum” intro noise took a full year to create, after many options were considered, including the possibility of a goat bleating.
Anyway, let’s chat top 10 shows for July, with the help of Forbes, which has devised a ranking system using a combination of Netflix’s info and their tracking of the daily top 10 shows.
We will run through numbers 10 to six, and then give a trailer for each of the top five:
In fifth place, and still chugging along nicely, is the superb The Last Dance:
If you liked that, you may also enjoy these other basketball doccies.
In fourth place is the fantasy/action Cursed:
In third, we have the comic book adaptation Warrior Nun:
The second most popular Netflix show in July was Down to Earth with Zac Efron, which sees the actor travelling around the world to show off how little he knows about anything that takes place outside of his own country:
In top spot, and another nod to how obsessed we have all become with true-crime series, is Unsolved Mysteries:
To the show’s credit, numerous crimes which have featured on the series have ended up being solved after tips from the viewing public.
You can find some examples here.
It’s a long weekend, and there is some poor weather forecast for Sunday and Monday, so this may be the weekend to binge, and binge hard.
