The late Steve Jobs commissioned the superyacht, Venus, before he was diagnosed with his terminal illness.
After his diagnosis, he intended the yacht to be enjoyed in his swansong years, but it was only put into operation a year after his death in 2011.
The concept for the yacht was carried out, for the most part, by French marine architect Philippe Starck, in partnership with Jobs himself. It was then built by Dutch superyacht building consortium Feadship.
It boasts a streamlined aluminium hull that pays homage to the aesthetic of most Apple devices, and includes iMac systems that allow the yacht to move with ease and accuracy through the waters.
This video from 2016 gives you an idea of the scale of the yacht:
The elusive Venus isn’t often photographed, but the Daily Mail obtained images of Steve Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs (below) enjoying the $110 million yacht with her daughter Eve Jobs.
You can check out those Daily Mail exclusive images of their holiday off the coast of Cannes here.
The sunny vacation came just two months after Powell joined with three other Silicon Valley billionaires to announce an ambitious data harvesting effort to assist the Democratic Party and bolster Joe Biden’s bid to defeat President Donald Trump in the November election.
A noble cause, one might say.
The yacht is tricked out with the finest accommodation. Add a full staff, including private chefs into the mix, and you have the ideal vacation.
More on the vessel in this CNN video from 2015:
I wouldn’t say no.
When Jobs died, most of his assets passed to his wife, making her one of the 50 richest people in the world.
Powell married Jobs in 1991 – ten years before the release of the first iPod – and now manages a fortune estimated to be worth $18.5 billion.
In addition to the Venus, she owns two private jets, four large real estate properties and a large stake in the Walt Disney Company.
So, a small fortune then.
It’s nice that she’s getting some use out of the boat.
I’m sure Jobs would be pleased.
