Late last night, a trove of documents related to Ghislaine Maxwell were unsealed, despite her best attempts to prevent that from happening.
The documents stem from a defamation suit she settled for an undisclosed sum in 2017 with the woman, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, so you’ll have to wait a little longer for the nude photographs and “sexualised video” evidence.
Still, there were some explosive revelations in this unsealing, which, along with Giuffre’s deposition, included several hundred pages of records.
First up, here’s NY Daily News, with Epstein’s flippant attitude to the charges against him:
“You have done nothing wrong and I would urge you to start acting like it,” Epstein wrote Maxwell in Jan. 2015, as more allegations about Epstein’s depraved activities were becoming public.
“Go outside, head high, not as an escaping convict. Go to parties, deal with it.”
Epstein — a notorious namedropper — wrote in the email that he’d just spoken to a Swedish diplomat, Lisa Svensson, who was assigned to advocate ocean-related issues.
“She said no one on her ocean panel takes this stuff seriously and you would be welcome to the ocean conference water conference etc,” Epstein wrote.
In a number of emails, Maxwell is seen trying to limit the damage to her image, with her repeated public appearances an attempt to make it seem as though she had nothing to answer for.
Oh, and more bad news for Prince Andrew:
Among the newly unsealed papers were graphic descriptions of Maxwell’s body by Giuffre [below]. The Epstein accuser also detailed how she allegedly fell into Epstein’s scheme at the age of 15 after meeting Maxwell at President Trump’s resort Mar-A-Lago.
In May 2016 Giuffre said under oath that Maxwell directed her to have sex with billionaire financier Glenn Dubin, Prince Andrew, French model scout Jean Luc Brunel, former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, “another prince,” the owner of a large hotel chain and MIT scientist Marvin Minsky.
She also names famed defence attorney Alan Dershowitz as someone she was forced to have sex with.
In that same deposition, Giuffre says that “you have to understand that [Epstein] and [Maxwell] are joined at the hip, and that “Jeffrey was just as a part of it as she was… [Maxwell] was just as a part of it as he was”.
It’s no surprise that Maxwell’s legal team tried so hard to prevent these documents from being unsealed.
Here’s the Washington Post:
At another point, she said of Maxwell: “She’s the one who abused me on a regular basis. She’s the one that procured me, told me what to do, trained me as a sex slave, abused me physically, abused me mentally. She’s the one who I believe, in my heart of hearts, deserves to come forward and have justice happen to her more than anybody. Being a woman, it’s disgusting.”
When asked whether Epstein ever bragged about the age of any girls with whom he had sexual relations, Giuffre said:
“Yes, he did. He did all the time,” she said. “The worst one that I heard from his own mouth was this pretty 12 year old girls he had flown in for his birthday. It was a surprise birthday gift from one of his friends and they were from France.”
You can see more from the unsealed documents here.
More additional documents from the 2015 suit, including a deposition related to Maxwell’s sex life, are expected to be made public on August 3.
