When a road rage incident or public brawl results in a number of people looking like fools, with no serious injuries, then they make for great viewing.
The Kyalami Estate brawl comes to mind, naturally.
That’s not the case here and, whilst the national lockdown has seen a drop in the number of road rage videos (aside from that awful racist rant), the footage below, reportedly filmed in Soneike, Kuilsriver, appears to show somebody being seriously harmed.
According to TimesLIVE, who spoke with Western Cape police spokesperson Col Andrè Traut, the incident occurred over the weekend, and police are still investigating:
“Once our preliminary investigation has been concluded, this office will be in a better position to release more information,” he said.
The footage was widely shared on social media, with the two clips below showing violence between occupants of three different vehicles.
A warning that some of the footage is graphic in nature:

Unconfirmed information, first sent via WhatsApp and then shared on social media, claims that the fight was between a taxi and two garden service bakkies, with the latter blaming the former’s poor driving for a collision between vehicles.
Following the collision, spades and various gardening tools were used to beat the taxi driver, along with occupants of the taxi.
Again, that remains unconfirmed, and police are still investigating.
Whilst it appears that at least one person is seriously injured in the brawl, investigators were yet to trace a victim.
