London is up there with some of the most expensive cities in the world to live in.
Venture a little further out of the city and you’ll find relatively affordable accommodation, but if your aspirations lie with an address rather than living space, you might be tempted to look for something in Notting Hill, boasting some of London’s most sought after addresses.
In fact, the real estate in that area is so prime that even something that only mildly resembles a place where people live could cost you an arm and a leg, like this ridiculous listing on Zoopla, which will set you back £200 000 (around R4,2 million).
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted a stove plate both directly next to where I sleep at night, and where the dishes are supposed to go when you wash them. It’s the dream.
Then there’s the shower in the ‘kitchen’, yet another dream fulfilled. The abstract duck painting balanced precariously above the sink is a nice touch, as is the empty frame on the wall.
No sign of a toilet, which is concerning. Maybe it’s in the broom cupboard:
To add insult to injury, the listing says that the “apartment” is a “renovation opportunity” and needs “complete modernising throughout”.
So, you drop slightly more than R4 million on a space and then you have to renovate. They’d better throw the duck painting in with the sale, otherwise, it isn’t worth it.
The pictures of the apartment tricked out closet, above, were posted on Twitter by Richard Brooks, who couldn’t get over the price.
The Twitter thread has picked up steam, as people post larger properties, elsewhere, advertised for the same price, like this four-bedroom semi-detached house in Northern Ireland, tweeted by Miss Cairns:
I won’t be setting my sights on London any time soon.
