Public service announcement – we have nothing, I repeat nothing, to do with Amazon.
Please do not email, or slide into our DMs, or send messages on Facebook, asking for a job at Amazon.
Last month, we touched on Amazon’s announcement that the company would be hiring an additional 3 000 South Africans, bringing their local workforce up to 7 000.
Added bonus – those jobs are work from home roles, and anybody with a Matric (Grade 12/NQF Level 4 qualification or higher) qualifies, as long as they have “excellent command of English” and South African citizenship.
Should you land a gig, you’ll get employer contributions toward medical aid, as well as a provident fund, employee wellness programmes, and a monthly stipend towards an internet connection.
Given that you’re working from home, you will need a reliable internet connection, and a quiet corner in which to work.
MyBroadband has sorted through the listings, and categorised some of the more prominent ones.
For example, these work from home positions:
If you want the details of each position, head to MyBroadband and click on the relevant ‘Application link’ alongside the position.
Alternatively, head to Amazon’s jobs portal, type in the name of the position and set the location to South Africa, and you’ll find those details.
For those who want to see all of the listings, head to the jobs portal and set the location as South Africa. It will then show all of the roles listed (around 50), with the 3 000 jobs falling under those various roles.
Times are tough (unless you’re Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, whose wealth increased $13 billion yesterday), so if you’re after a new gig and you do end up applying, good luck.
