I remember a few years ago my folks went with some friends to Cambodia. They met a chap by the name of Shortman, who used to drive them around in his rather worn (or ‘beat’, as Billy Joel would say) tuk-tuk.
So enamoured were my parents’ party with Shortman, that they vowed to send him money to buy him a new tuk-tuk when they returned home. That’s exactly what they did and he even sent a picture to prove it.
Hopefully, he never used his new ride to get into the world of tuk-tuk racing. I don’t think the suspension system on a standard model would hack it.
In fact, I know it wouldn’t
From CNN:
But these three-wheelers can race — as Sri Lankan tuk-tuk drivers showed at the Red Bull Tuk It earlier this year.
The fourth edition of the Tuk It race covered more than 80 miles across Sri Lanka.
More than 200 teams took to their three-wheelers in the two-day quest, enduring bumpy roads, muddy jungles, deep puddles and steep hills.
Sit back and watch this unfold:
Epic. And a massive congrats to Team 93-4, who were crowned 2020 champions!
