So, how about this weather, hey?
I haven’t ventured out of the house in a couple of days, and that’s not going to change as long as the air feels like ice.
With the cold front taking on different forms across the Cape, it may have been possible to go out into the world where you are, and if you did, you’re braver than me.
Unfortunately for a Simba Chips truck that was stationary on a road between Villiersdorp and Worcester, and another on the N2, the journey out wasn’t worth it.
Here’s TimesLIVE:
Two trucks were blown over by strong winds in the Western Cape on Thursday as the first of two storms made landfall.
Western Cape police chief Kenny Africa confirmed that a video showing a stationary truck being blown over on the road between Villiersdorp and Worcester was authentic.
These things have to be confirmed. Whenever a storm hits, people search the internet for disaster videos, which they then try to pass off as current events. Some of them aren’t even of flipped trucks and/or storms in South Africa.
He said gales had also caused traffic disruptions in Cape Town on the N2 near the Baden Powell Drive turn-off where a truck was blown over and was still lying.
The truck puts up a good fight, but couldn’t hold out in the end:
Perhaps the truck wouldn’t have blown over if chip packets these days weren’t 90% air and 10% chip. It’s not exactly the world’s most pressing issue at the moment, but at some point, we the people need to rise up.
While rain fell in Cape Town, the Boland and Overberg regions of the Western Cape were experiencing dry, but windy conditions.
Stay safe out there.
