I’m sure the Royal Family misses the days when the biggest scandal that they had to deal with was whether or not Harry, Meghan, William and Kate were all getting along.
Since Jeffrey Epstein was arrested and his associates dragged out of the woodwork, the revelations that Prince Andrew was not only his friend, but may have sexually assaulted an underage girl on Epstein’s island dragged the royals into one of the worst PR disasters that they’ve ever faced.
Now, once again they’re in the news in connection with Epstein and his partner in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell, this time because of a photo taken inside Buckingham Palace.
CNN explains:
The image of British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell sitting alongside “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey, who has also faced allegations of sexual misconduct, apparently at the Queen’s London residence in 2002, was published by the UK-based Daily Telegraph newspaper on Saturday.
CNN could not confirm why Maxwell and Spacey were at the palace. The paper reported the pair had been invited into the throne room by Prince Andrew.
CNN’s royal correspondent Max Foster said that the throne represents a symbol of a monarch’s authority, and “no one else has the right to sit in it. That would be seen as a sign of disrespect towards Queen and country.”
Yeah, the Brits are very serious about respecting the Queen and tradition. I don’t think they’re going to take kindly to this.
Ghislaine Maxwell, who allegedly groomed Epstein’s victims, and on occasion allegedly participated in the sexual assault herself, was arrested on July 2.
Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claims to have been forced to sleep with Prince Andrew, says the prince “should be panicking” because “Ghislaine doesn’t really care about anyone else but Ghislaine”.
A friend of Maxwell has said that she would “never” pass on information about the royal in the Epstein investigation, because they’re friends.
The prospect of a long prison sentence has a way of testing loyalties.
In the meantime, the palace might want to consider putting a lock on the throne room door.
