Dior was founded in 1946 by designer Christian Dior, and quickly rose to become one of the world’s most high-end fashion houses, known for its haute couture under the Christian Dior Couture division.
Dior is iconic, so it makes sense that it would partner with Vespa. The only thing better than one icon is two, and both Vespa and Dior have been ahead of the game when it comes to design since the 1940s.
In fact, Vespa, also founded in 1946, is no stranger to fashion, having propelled Italian street style to the forefront of world fashion, inspiring cultures from the Mods of England to postcolonial India.
So here we are, with one of the most stylish Vespas ever created.
Over to Prestige Online:
Dior and Vespa have teamed up to create the Christian Dior Vespa 946, a new version of the scooter first launched in Milan in 2012, which will combine Italian knowhow with Parisian chic.
And that’s not all. The couture scooter will launch with a whole collection of accessories, most notably a helmet and a top case designed to be attached to the luggage rack.
Both of these creations will be decorated with the emblematic Dior Oblique motif, which will also feature on the scooter’s seat.
According to Vespa, the new model was designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Creative Director of Dior women’s collections. The scooter is made in Italy, adhering to the exacting standards, commitment and precision of a couture atelier.
Watch it in action:
The branded limited edition will go on sale in 2021, and will initially be available from Dior boutiques in several countries, and thereafter in selected Piaggio group Motoplex stores.
But, we all know that a Vespa doesn’t need to be kitted out by a fashion house to radiate style and class.
The classic Vespa already does that.
