Earlier in the week, a drone video shot by 14-year-old Zach Berman, showing a great white shark swimming between kayakers and surfers in Plettenberg Bay, made waves around the world.
Your man Zach even cracked CNN, and his video was covered on a live BBC News segment.
His initial video was uploaded to his Instagram account, @crazy__nature2.0, and at the time of writing, he has amassed in excess of 5 500 followers.
He also uploaded that video to YouTube, so let’s give that another watch:
Superb.
Now, after what Zach calls “a whirlwind of a day with interviews and all the amazing responses I’ve got from all the world”, he has managed to film a second video showing a great white shark in close proximity to surfers, less than 24 hours after the first.
He added that “NSRI was immediately notified and all surfers exited the water safely”:
The video was also uploaded to his YouTube account:
Great work, young man – keep it up.
These are the types of ‘influencers’ we like to see in the wild, rather than the type that ends up on this Instagram account.
A reminder that the NSRI has appealed to “bathers, paddlers, body boarders and surfers to be cautious along the Southern Cape coastline and the Eastern Cape coastline…due to a high number of reported White shark sightings and White Shark close encounters”.
