How’s about this weather, hey?
One of the lockdown’s great mercies is not having to make small talk with strangers in elevators and other such ‘zones of awkwardness’.
I include queues at supermarkets in the aforementioned zones, because unless you’re one of those sociopaths that wears a clear plastic shield, a face mask should provide adequate anonymity.
Also, face masks work, so wear one.
If we were forced to talk about the weather with relative strangers and acquaintances, we’d all be talking about the Western Cape’s cold snap, and nowhere is that more evident than in the Matroosberg Nature Reserve, outside Ceres.
TimesLIVE’s Anthony Molyneaux headed out to the Matroosberg to chat with some of the revellers:
Ja, no, lekker, hey?
Storm Report SA has also shared a number of great videos these past few days.
Here’s Simone Swart driving through a mountain pass in the area:
This video, captured by the Storm Report SA team, shows a “snowdevil”, rather than a “gustnado”, and was taken on their snow chase between Barkly East and Elliot:

Makes me pretty glad that I’m wrapped up at home with two jerseys, a beanie, a blanket, slippers, and other various winter warming measures in place.
