Miss Playing Golf? This Floating Green For Your Pool Is Just Perfect

Are you desperate for something resembling golf, have a house with a pool, and keen on blowing through some cash? You're in luck.

As things stand, under alert level 3, amateur golf is still off-limits.

For those desperate to once again walk the fairways, GolfRSA are hard at work to see if they can convince government to change that stance, releasing a statement last week saying that they were “taking legal action”.

This past weekend, GolfRSA CEO Grant Hepburn struck a more optimistic tone, saying they had a “very positive meeting” with a key representative of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, so perhaps a return is imminent.

If you’re not up for waiting, and you fancy some chipping in and around the house, Seth reckons the ‘Floating Golf Green’ is a good way to pass the time.

R9 000, though? No thanks.

I snooped around and although options for sale here in South Africa are limited, the company Floating Golf Greens does ship to South Africa.

They have a wide range of greens available, from the humble 3′ x 3′ “Ace” ($125) through to the 8′ x 12′ “Major”, although that’s setting you back a cool $849 (around R14 200).

That’s a fair few rounds at the local, and doesn’t take into account shipping.

Obviously, you will also need a pool, and you’ll be fishing out plenty of sunken golf balls from the icy water.

It’s not that I don’t trust your chipping skills, but it’s definitely going to happen.

If you’re still determined to grab yourself a floating green, the company even has a number of games mapped out:

Hmm – I’m still not won over.

Anyway, you’re welcome to do your own snooping, but these guys were the best bet I could find during my brief research this morning.

Something tells me the real golfers are going to wait it out.
