Once again, I have found myself in the uncomfortable position of having to agree, on some level, with Piers Morgan.
I would rather eat my own toenails than deal with him under most circumstances.
Over the years, he has dabbled in racism and transphobia, not to mention his wild overreaction and rambling op-eds whenever confronted with a strong and capable woman.
Once a fan of Donald Trump, he has recently done the math and decided that his once proudly proclaimed friendship with Donald isn’t good for his brand.
‘Captain Bone Spurs’ has now graduated to ‘Bunker Boy’ following his cowardly escape to the White House bunker and profane tweets, amidst the #BlackLivesMatter protests raging across America.
Piers has responded to the president’s appalling actions over the past few weeks by inviting his friend and attorney, Rudy “truth isn’t truth” Giuliani, to be a guest on ITV’s Good Morning Britain to hash it out.
Giuliani goes on about how Trump did the right thing, then talks about how the police officers in the George Floyd killing should go to jail, how the leftwing media is unfair, and so on.
You can skip ahead to the Piers/Rudy smackdown, which starts from the 3:45 minute mark:
Holy hell, that got heated. Make sure you watch the exchange from 10:45 onwards.
Mashable breaks down some of the highlights for those who couldn’t bear to sit through the whole thing:
Taking a page from his boss’s playbook, Giuliani stumbled through a few insults about Morgan’s failed CNN show and its poor ratings. At some point, Giuliani either tells Morgan he “sucked up” or “fucked up” — it’s tough to tell because Giuliani’s words are a bit slurred — but either way Morgan apologizes for the language before twisting the knife further into his guest.
“When I used to interview you, you were an intelligent, reasonable man and you’ve gone completely mad,” he said. “And you sound deranged. You’re abusive. And it’s really sad to see what’s happened to you.”
An awkward-looking Susanna Reid is left speechless, ending the news segment with “Okay…”.
These are strange times indeed where Piers Morgan is, for the most part, on the right side of an argument.
