The drone enthusiast in my life tells me that his love for the activity springs from the fact that it’s the closest many of us will ever get to flying a plane without actually flying a plane.
Drones offer their flyers a birds-eye-view of the world, and let’s face it, we could all use a view that doesn’t involve our balconies or backyards at the moment.
A change of perspective, if you will.
That’s why the Tiny Whoop Nano drone is so cool.
According to the Flying Robot website, this miniature aircraft is the smallest of its kind, but it certainly doesn’t lack in power.
With a 55mm diagonal motor-to-motor measurement, the Tiny Whoop Nano is almost a new class of aircraft. In its stock state it’s built for accurate and agile angle-mode cruising, exploring, and spec racing. The power system can also be upgraded and tuned for more speed or endurance.
In the air you’ll feel even tinier, and the world around you will feel even bigger. This nano-size aircraft is meant to slip thru the moving sea of ankles in a busy crowds, negotiate the dense foliage of your houseplants or trees, and race room to room through your home.
The airframe is super light, without compromising on strength, while the F3 flight controller is equipped with hardware capable of reversing brushed motors.
This means that if the aircraft lands upside down, it can flip itself over, making this the first brushed Whoop-style drone capable of “turtle-ing in any direction”.
On to the FPV system, which uses a TBS Tiny Camera, with 700TVL resolution.
The VTX is the infamous TBS Unify Pro Nano, the world’s smallest FPV video transmitter with 25mW/50mW power levels and integrated Smart Audio, allowing the pilot to change video channels instantly using only their transmitter.
The video transmitter’s stock antenna is a linear dipole on FPC substrate, which looks like a sticker on one of the rear ducts. It’s incredibly durable, and transmits beautiful, clear video.
Of course, the true test of a drone is in the flying.
Behold the Tiny Whoop Nano in action:
I reckon the person piloting that drone is pretty skilled, because some of those manoeuvres are top-notch.
If you prefer drones of a different variety, Flying Robot has a wide range to suit the tastes of any drone enthusiast. They also sell the parts you’ll need if you want to strike out, build, and customise a small aircraft of your own.
To take the sting off dropping cash on a hobby (these are tough times we live in), they also offer PayJustNow as a payment option at checkout.
PayJustNow allows you to pay for your purchase over three equal, zero-interest instalments. You’ll pay one instalment at the time of purchase, the next at the beginning of the following month, and the last one a month thereafter.
Zero interest, and zero hidden fees, which means it’s a great way to budget for your purchase without having to wait to own it.
If you’re in the mood for some interest-free shopping, check out the full range of merchants that offer the PayJustNow payment option.
Then fly, my friend, fly.
