One of the most welcome announcements in the president’s address on Sunday was that the sale of alcohol would once again be allowed under alert level 3.

I think we all raised a glass of whatever non-alcoholic rubbish we’ve been drinking (since our alcohol supplies ran out) in celebration.

Now that we know that it will be possible to stock up from June 1, we’re faced with another conundrum. To obtain alcohol immediately, one would have to go to the shop.

On the other hand, liquor stores are going to look like Black Friday as soon as their doors open, and I’m not delighted about having to fight someone for my preferred tipple.

To make things worse, many have speculated that we will see alcohol sold on Monday through to Thursday, during limited hours, but that has not yet been confirmed.

There is, however, a simple solution: order online.

While it might mean waiting a few days more for a sundowner, it also means getting what you want and maintaining the physical distancing that’s keeping you safe.
