When it comes to Clifton properties, it’s all about location, so get ready to drop more money than most of us will see in a lifetime on a professionally decorated bungalow with beach views.
This appears to be the case for two new listings going up for auction in June. The one is the afore-mentioned bungalow, and the other a plot of land where you can design and build your own house, should you beat out the bidders.
Let’s start with the existing bungalow.
According to the listing on the High Street Auctions website, the newly renovated bungalow at 23-3rd Beach boasts two en-suite bedrooms with views onto the ocean, a large entertainment area with a wooden deck complete with a jacuzzi, a combined lounge, and dining TV area and a bar.
In terms of security, the property comes equipped with remote CCTV and automatic security window shutters.
Take a slideshow tour of the property, below:
The auction will take place on June 9, at midday (12PM) via a virtual online auction.
BusinessTech spoke to the director and Lead Auctioneer of High Street Auctions, Joff van Reenen:
“Facing onto the famous 3rd beach in Clifton, the bungalow we’re auctioning next month has uninterrupted views of the sea and is just a step away from the sand. This is one of only seven bungalows that has direct beach access,” he said.
Plans have been approved to extend the deck if you want to stretch it out a bit more.
Moving on to the second property – a rare vacant development plot located at 4 Apostle steps in Clifton, measuring 455m².
This isn’t the first time that this particular plot has been auctioned off. Last year it was billed as one of the most sought-after pieces of land in Cape Town.
“At our auction in September 2019, a Cape Town buyer paid R20.35 million for one of the last undeveloped residential stands in Clifton – that one a spectacular bungalow site below Victoria Road overlooking 4th Beach.
“At 455 square metres this more elevated stand on sale in next month’s virtual live-stream auction is slightly larger than the 417 square metres plot that went under the hammer last year.”
It comes complete with residential zoning, so it’s ready for development.
The plot will also be auctioned off, online on June 9, again at midday (12PM), so if you want to snap up both of them, you’ll need to get a buddy involved.
Commenting on the impact of the coronavirus, Van Reenen said that the auctioneers have seen no difference in numbers between bidder registration and attendance at previous live auctions and for May’s first fully digital virtual auction.
Bidders are said to be coming in hot from all over the world, which tracks with what experts are saying about international buyers and the luxury property market during the pandemic.
If this is your vibe, get in there.
You’re likely to have some stiff competition.
