The lockdown restrictions in the UK are a little odd.
Britons are allowed to go for a walk in the park, practise yoga, or take a jog. They’re permitted to drive around, provided that drive takes you to somewhere where you can exercise or walk.
Just don’t sit on park benches for too long or stand still. You need to keep moving or you’ll be in trouble – much like the curious case of the Muizenberg beach protesters.
Boris Johnson gave a speech last week in an attempt to clear things up, but instead generated more confusion, and was mercilessly mocked for it online.
Meanwhile, in Birmingham, a group of men, described by The Daily Mail as “youths” and “covidiots”, were caught hanging around out outside a supermarket.
Before the police could do anything, however, they creatively interpreted the lockdown rules by launching into an exercise routine.
Check out the ‘youths’ in action in a video that was originally shared by Twitter user @iKhristenCraft:
To his credit, the police officer clearly sees the humour in all of this.
The exercising men call to mind Vicky Pollard’s take on how sunbathing in the park is exercising in the Little Britain special that recently aired on BBC.
Skip ahead to the 3:13 mark:
“But yeah, but no, but yeah…I am well exercising!”
