Meghan and Harry have settled into their new life in Los Angeles.
They’ve taken up residence in an ultra-luxury Beverly Hills hideout reportedly owned by Tyler Perry.
Clearly the plan to make their own cash after leaving the royal way of life is working out.
Their new neighbourhood boasts a couple of big names and big spenders, not least of which Mohamed Hadid, who has plans to move in next door to them in the near future.
If somehow you don’t know how neighbours work, The Daily Mail made an infographic:
As you can see, Hadid does indeed own property that borders on Harry and Meghan’s property.
Unfortunately for the royal couple, Hadid isn’t the best neighbour.
The father of supermodels Bella and Gigi Hadid – who so infuriated neighbors at the other mega-mansion he built in Bel Air that a judge ordered it to be torn down – owns a 100-acre spread of hillside land near Hollywood tycoon Tyler Perry’s $18 million estate.
Hadid has started building a 55,000 square foot colossus on the land – almost twice the size of his half-built house in Bel Air that’s about to be demolished – and it will boast four stories, 15 bedrooms, 22 bathrooms and two swimming pools.
Whether this mansion will be completed remains to be seen.
LA’s Department of Building and Safety is now threatening to revoke 12 of his building permits, including the ones for the main house, its two swimming pools, a half-mile access road and a 20,000 square foot ‘guest house,’ if the violations aren’t corrected.
It was similar permit violations that landed Hadid in criminal court in July 2017 when he pleaded no-contest to three charges of illegal construction after he repeatedly ignored orders to stop work on the Bel Air Strada Vecchia mega-mansion, which is just six miles from Harry and Meghan’s place.
His neighbours sued him in civil court, where a judge found that his building plans were “unsafe” and a “clear and present danger” to neighbouring homes”.
He sounds like a real champion.
I doubt he’ll be getting a muffin basket if he ever manages to move in next door to the Sussexes.
