The coronavirus pandemic is really sorting the wheat from the chaff in politics.
We have Donald Trump, who recently responded to a question about COVID-19 at a press briefing with “Don’t ask me, ask China”, before storming out of the room.
Always a class act.
Then there’s Boris Johnson, who decided to put some effort into his latest update on the lockdown in Britain by combing his hair, but somehow failed to give his speech a once over before delivering it.
You can watch that speech here if you’re so inclined, but all you really need to know is that it provided the British people with more confusion than clarity on the country’s plans for lockdown.
Which brings us to Matt Lucas, famous for his roles in Little Britain and Bridesmaids, who seized on the Prime Minister’s less-than-ideal description of events.
Over to CNN:
Imitating Johnson’s distinctive speech style, Lucas said:
“So, we are saying don’t go to work, go to work, don’t take public transport, go to work, don’t go to work.”
“Stay indoors, if you can work from home go to work, don’t go to work.”
“Go outside, don’t go outside. And then we will, or won’t, something or other.”
He shared his video on Twitter:

It’s uncanny, contains a touch of Vicky Pollard, and as someone on Twitter pointed out, is somehow more informative than Johnson’s actual speech.
At the time of writing the video has received more than 200 000 likes, and has been viewed more than five million times.
Lucas is a global treasure.
I’ll leave you with the Little Britain special that recently aired on BBC to raise money for the charity, Children in Need:
