Everything moved online when most of the world went into lockdown.
This has resulted in a couple of epic mistakes during conference calls and broadcasts, such as the live TV nose-picking from Belgium’s Minister of Health, Maggie de Block.
Some people just can’t seem to get the hang of the fact that their camera is on, and that everyone can see what they’re getting up to.
While Maggie somehow missed the boat on that one, we can safely assume that Spanish news anchor Alfonso Merlos of Estado de Alarma, knew that he was broadcasting live, and should have given his girlfriend a heads up.
Here’s that OG tabloid, People:
Viewers noticed that the woman, who appeared to be wearing only a bra, was reportedly another journalist named Alexia Rivas and not Marta López, the woman that Merlos was known to be dating at the time.
Several fans accused Merlos of cheating on López, who starred on Big Brother.
Should we care? I’m going to go with, “nope”.
Watch the video anyway if you must, spiced up with the ‘dancing pallbearers’ meme that’s taken the internet by storm.
You’ll see the woman in the background from the 12-second mark:
Right, on to the ‘he-said-she-said’ of it all.
Merlos later addressed the incident on The Ana Rose Show and said that he had broken up with his famous girlfriend prior to the incident.
“If you think that my attitude has not been correct or that there are things that I have not done well, I have no problem asking for forgiveness, although my goal was not to harm someone else,” he said, according to Metro UK.
Rivas confirmed that he was not dating anyone when she was naked in his living room.
However, López has alleged that she and Merlos had not broken up, but were simply in the midst of an argument.
“I had been mad at Alfonso for four days. He didn’t want me to do something that affected my family. I did it, and he got mad,” López told a Spanish outlet, per Metro UK, adding that she and Merlos had even been on lockdown together during the pandemic.
She said that they “argue”.
We’ll leave that dumpster fire of a situation to the tabloids to unpack further.
