During the global pandemic, some business people and celebrities have done their public image the world of good.
Then there is Elon Musk, who has once again shown why Twitter isn’t for everyone.
Yes, we already knew from that time he called a British rescue diver a ‘pedo guy’, but this time he’s putting actual lives at risk.
We’ll get back to more of his moronic tweets later, but let’s talk about that potentially massive payday for now
Musk’s time at the helm of Tesla has been a success, and he’s closing in on a whopper of a bonus. Forbes reports:
Six weeks ago, with U.S. stock indices and Tesla shares plunging as the scope of the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, the odds Musk would achieve the first tranche of his 12-part $55 billion compensation package looked slim.
Yet Forbes now estimates the stock’s 100% rebound from a recent low-point on March 18 has Tesla on track to hit both six-month and 30-day market cap averages of $100 billion in early May.
Once that happens, the company’s board would award Musk 1.69 million Tesla shares that, factoring in an exercise price of $350.02 share, would have a net value of at least $600 million.
Boom – an extra $600 million in the bank (or at least in share options), just like that.
That compensation package runs until 2028, so there’s plenty of time for Musk to unlock the other $54,4 billion, too.
Earlier this week, Tesla shares rose 10% to almost $800 in Nasdaq trading, which also saw his net worth increase by a cool $2,6 billion.
All of the above points to a few billion reasons to smile, but over on Twitter, Elon seems pained.
Let’s start with this tweet from Sunday:

Don’t bother clicking the YouTube link, because it’s been removed by YouTube on the basis that it spreads dangerous misinformation.
These replies sum of much of the reaction:
Not to be deterred, Elon has been tweeting again this morning;
Almost like he has a vested interest in getting people back to work.
I’m sure Elon will be there on the frontlines, risking his life daily, too.
His business chops should be lauded, because he’s broken new ground on many fronts, but the tweeting really doesn’t do him any favours.
