Just because we’re cooped up indoors doesn’t mean we can’t have a decent jol, right?
Around the world, musicians have come together to raise money for charitable causes, and last weekend’s One World: Together at Home concert featured heavyweights like the Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Elton John.
There was also some South African flavour, but we were left wanting a little more local spice, which is why we’re stoked to see some of South Africa’s most talented musicians coming together for the One Love SA Live Stream Benefit Concert.
The concert will take place on Thursday night (April 30), starting at 7PM, which makes it the perfect way to celebrate the end of alert level 5.
With the goal of raising money to provide food aid to as many vulnerable families as possible, the One Love SA concert line-up includes:
Each artist will share their music, their passion, and what this unprecedented time means to them.
The live stream will be hosted by Rob van Vuuren, and feature some other comedic talent to keep everyone chuckling along the way.
You can buy your ticket through Howler here.
All of the proceeds raised will be donated to four causes that One Love SA is supporting – Operation Hunger SA, COVID-19 People’s Coalition, Feed Our Valley, and SAFE – South African Fund 4 Entertainment.
The aim is to raise R1 million, and there are different tiers of tickets to suit every pocket, including free tickets:
Look at that – R200 and you fed a family for up to a week, while enjoying some of South Africa’s favourite artists. That’s a win-win right there.
Here’s a little teaser of what awaits on Thursday night, from 7PM:
New musicians are still coming on board, so keep up to speed with the latest on the event’s Facebook page, where you’ll also find information on where to watch the concert live.
You can also check out One Love SA’s Facebook page for more info on the event, and the charitable causes it supports.
