Many politicians around the world haven’t been covering themselves in glory these past few weeks and months.
With some, their follies have included a colossal failure to deal with the spread of COVID-19, and there’s not much to chuckle about on that front.
Then you have the politicians who can’t quite get the hang of Zoom, which is far easier to enjoy.
In case you missed it, Belgium’s Minister of Health, Maggie de Block, had a full-blown nose-picking session during a televised Zoom meeting.
Not her finest moment, although she is being given a run for her money by the Welsh health minister, Vaughan Gething.
Here’s the Guardian:
…he accidentally broadcast a sweary rant about one of his colleagues during a virtual session of Welsh assembly.
Having apparently left his microphone live after addressing the assembly, the minister could be heard loudly decrying his fellow Labour assembly member Jenny Rathbone…
Elin Jones, the assembly’s llywydd – equivalent to speaker – attempted to rescue the situation as Gething continued his rant.
Sure, but the damage was done.
Listen closely:
Following the call, members of the opposition party, Plaid Cymru, called for Gething to resign.
He took to Twitter later in the day:
If you want to play a drinking game that is guaranteed to end in a blackout, take a sip of your favourite beverage every time you hear the word ‘unprecedented’.
