The last time Banksy took to the streets, he ramped up the property value of a home in Bristol with a surprise Valentine’s Day mural.
Less than 48 hours after the work went up, it was vandalised by some unappreciative locals with the words ‘BCC Wankers’ – or ‘British Chambers of Commerce Wankers’ – upsetting everyone who hoped the artwork would inspire an uptick in tourism.
More recently, Banksy has found himself confined to his home as part of a global effort to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
Not one to sit idle, he decided to work from home.
Per The Guardian:
Banksy has revealed his latest artwork created while in lockdown – a series of rats causing mayhem in his bathroom.
The elusive anonymous artist, who usually works in the street, posted a set of images on his Instagram on Wednesday night, with the caption: “My wife hates it when I work from home.”
I’m sure she’s not the only spouse to feel that way. Some days can be more testing than others.
You’ll notice the rat counting down the days of lockdown, reflected in the mirror. I can see why his wife might be a little put out.
On the other hand, that just became a very expensive bathroom.
In October last year his painting, ‘Devolved parliament’, fetched cool £2 million at auction.
I’m keen to see which room he sets his mind to next.
