Honestly, we have more important things to worry about at the moment than what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are up to – and they agree.
Quick aside before we carry on – Harry’s full name is actually Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex, as was written on baby Archie’s birth certificate in May of last year.
And now you know.
A while back, Meghan and Harry announced their intention to leave royal life, and after some tough negotiations with the Queen, they were released into the world to start over as somewhat ordinary self-financing citizens.
This didn’t come without a price. They had to let go of the Sussex Royal brand that they had been cultivating since separating themselves from William and Kate to strike out on their own.
Fast forward to today, and they’ve posted their final goodbye on the @SussexRoyal Instagram account.
Per Sky News:
Their Instagram account and website will remain online but will no longer be updated.
Their Sussex Royal Foundation will not continue and the winding up process has begun.
The post, which you can read below, thanks their followers for all the support that they’ve given the couple, while also drawing attention to the coronavirus pandemic:
Harry and Meghan will spend the next few months focusing on family, and doing what they can “safely and privately” to continue their public work, charities and other ventures.
If you’re missing Meghan, you can always watch her new Disney film.
Meanwhile, private life is proving more complicated than they initially thought, especially when it comes to security.
The Duke and Duchess have agreed to pay for their own protection, which, according to IOL, will cost them in the region of £4 million (about R88 million) a year.
It was initially believed that they would be moving to Canada. It’s now clear that they will be living in America.
Despite the fact that they didn’t ask for his help, Donald Trump was quick to jump on the bandwagon to announce that the US would not be funding their security.
Another great presidential moment from POTUS.
If he spent less time worrying about things that don’t concern him and more time worrying about COVID-19, America wouldn’t be in the position it’s in now.
Meghan and Harry are currently working on hiring new staff, including Catherine St-Laurent, one of Bill Gates and his wife Melinda’s leading executives, who will be taking up the position of Chief of Staff.
You can read more about their future plans, here.
I’m sure we’ll be hearing from them soon.
