We all have at least one older relative who isn’t very good at social media, but that hasn’t stopped them from giving it the old college try.
For the most part, it’s Facebook frames, inspirational quotes, and panic when it comes to figuring out how friend requests and followers work.
Then there’s Tim.
Tim is the security guard at the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City. When the museum closed on March 17 to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, he took over its Twitter account, reports CNET.
No one could have predicted this, but Tim is one of the best things to happen to Twitter in recent times.
Tim did the polite thing and introduced himself with a friendly greeting:
He then decided to provide a kind of virtual tour of the museum, with interesting facts about its exhibits, starting with a hat worn by John Wayne (but not by Tim). Note the hashtag.
It’s a learning curve and Tim is willing to take any social media advice on offer:
More hats that Tim isn’t allowed to wear, and some confusion about how URLs work:
Tim tries his hand at TikTok:
He also wants you to know that his wife is the only reason he watched The Notebook:
It’s selfie time:
Tim has been on a roll, making jokes about chaps and musing over how much fun it would be to have a beer with Dorothea Lange, a photojournalist famous for capturing images of the Great Depression.
His Twitter posts have been met with overwhelming love from the public. When asked how he got into it, he couldn’t resist a pun and a social media staple ‘LOL’.
Bless him.
Do yourself a favour and head on over to The National Cowboy Museum Twitter account.
As long as Tim is in charge, it’s an endless source of joy.
We hope you never get the hang of Twitter, Tim. Stay exactly as you are.
