Don’t panic, the British Royal Family is fine – for now.
The Queen, who is older than dirt, and therefore at risk, has left Buckingham Palace and will be self-isolating at Windsor Castle.
Prince William offered some encouraging words to the British public, giving us a sneak preview of what he’ll be like when he’s King.
Meghan, Harry and Archie are keeping a low profile.
And Prince Charles…well…we’ll get to him in a second.
So which Royal has the virus?
Over to Vanity Fair:
Prince Albert of Monaco, the 62-year-old son of the late Grace Kelly and her husband Prince Rainier, was tested for the virus on Monday and received the results on Wednesday.
A statement from the palace said there was no concern for his health and that he was recovering in his private apartments under the supervision of doctors based at the Princess Grace Hospital Center. He is the tenth confirmed case of COVID-19 in the principality, which shares a border with France, one of the hardest hit countries in Europe, behind Italy and Spain.
Albert will be staying indoors with his family until he is given the all-clear.
Though Monaco is a constitutional monarchy, Albert wields political power and helped the government announce its formal response to the spread of COVID-19. On Tuesday, Albert gave a speech to his citizens about the dangers of the virus and the need for increasing quarantine, but didn’t mention his own health.
Unfortunately, just nine days before his diagnosis, he was rubbing shoulders with another royal, Prince Charles, an event for WaterAid. There are now fears that Albert could have exposed the prince to COVID-19.
The palace hasn’t commented on any of this yet, but we’re sure they’ve got things in hand.
As the old British morale-boosting saying goes – ‘keep calm, and carry on’.
