The brave folks at The Guardian have recently taken on the tough task of ranking iconic musicians and their music.
Oasis got the treatment earlier this month, and now it’s David Bowie’s turn.
Bowie died back in 2016, leaving behind an incredible catalogue of music.
Oasis could conceivably write more songs, but won’t, because Liam and Noel Gallagher can’t be in the same room together.
Bowie’s top 50 tracks have been ranked from ‘worst’ (there’s no such thing) to best. As The Guardian puts it, ranking Bowie is a “thankless task”.
Here’s the top 10, with as many official music videos as possible, so that you can relive his glory days:
10. Drive-In Saturday (1973)
9. ’Tis a Pity She Was a Whore (2016)
8. Oh! You Pretty Things (1971)
7. Young Americans (1975)
6. Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing (Reprise) (1974)
5. “Heroes” (1977)
4. Life on Mars? (1971)
3. Station to Station (1976)
2. Ashes to Ashes (1980)
1. Sound and Vision (1977)
I personally think ‘Fashion’, ‘Let’s Dance’ and ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ deserved a spot in the top 10, but then again, you could make that argument for any number of Bowie songs that didn’t make the cut.
