I’m sorry I have to write this, and I’m sorry you have to read it.
This is not news.
Way back in 2011, reality-TV personality and all-round fame-hungry human Courtney Stodden married actor Doug Hutchison.
Doug played the sadistic corrections officer Percy Wetmore in The Green Mile.
At the time, Courtney was 16 and Doug was 50. They then divorced in 2013, when I would guess the media attention died down, before remarrying again in 2014.
In 2018, Courtney filed for divorce.
Here we are, in the year 2020, and their relationship is still a thing. By thing, I mean it gets clicks, which is why The Cut wrote about it:
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Stodden announced her divorce, writing that upon reflection she feels “absolutely taken advantage of.” She wrote:
I’ve been scared to even speak up about feeling groomed or being verbally abused during the almost 10 year marriage because I was a child and he was 50 when we married but I’m a woman now and it’s time for me to put my big girl pants on and speak on this matter. I’ve felt completely trapped, manipulated and at times abandoned by adults // growing up in such an environment — it became a lonely and dark place.
Addressing Hutchinson, Stodden, who is now 25, wrote: “You’ve left me — a child woman, feeling belittled and confused. These things I shall overcome. I wish you well. But please don’t ever do this to another minor again. It’s not right … even if the parent signs off.”
You can skip a visit to her Instagram account – these were her six previous Instagram posts:
In response, Doug’s manager said that Courtney was trying to get ger message out ahead of the release of Doug’s biography on March 10.
Wow, that should be a cracking read. If Australia runs out of toilet paper, I would suggest this biography as a second port of call.
Doug himself then came out swinging, reports Celebretainment:
Doug has now hit back, claiming Courtney’s post was made in “retaliation” for his recent accusation she faked a pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage as a way of getting attention and to make money by being paid for interviews.
His spokesperson elaborated:
“If it helps, I would suggest you conduct an internet search where you will find, as recently as 6 months ago, Courtney speaks publicly and on many occasions, glowingly about her relationship with Doug, and in fact on more than one occasion, publicly stating that she still loved him and wanted to reconcile their marriage.”
I must now stop, because I can actually feel myself becoming less intelligent the longer I am forced to think about these two.

For the betterment of humanity, let’s just hope that Courtney and Doug fade into obscurity and we are never forced to speak of them again.
