Scroll through TikTok and you’re likely to find the worst of humanity and a cautionary tale about what happens when people have access to smartphones and apps.
Every now and then, though, you’ll find a content creator who puts a bit of thought and effort into what they’re doing.
Entrepreneur and TikTok star Humphrey Yang, a 32-year-old eCommerce consultant and freelancer from Silicon Valley, is one such creator.
According to Mashable, he makes informative videos about economics.
He recently took on the task of creating a visual representation of the wealth of the richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos.
To carry out his project, Yang decided to pretend a single grain of rice represented $100,000. He then counted out 10 grains of rice to show $1 million, and proceeded to measure out $1 billion by counting out a whopping 10,000 grains of rice by hand.
The two-part project starts with him counting out the rice:
@humphreytalksThis took me hours don’t let it flop ##billion ##money ##personalfinance ##rice ##xyzbca♬ original sound – humphreytalks
Video two really gets into what Bezos is worth. Remember that one grain of rice is $100 000, and one pile of rice is $1 billion:
@humphreytalksRice. Part 2: Jeff Bezos net worth. ##rice ##billion ##billions ##amazon ##jeffbezos ##money ##personalfinance ##xyzcba♬ original sound – humphreytalks
I needed to sit down after that Lamborghini example. Also, the house that Bezos recently bought barely made a dent in his fortune.
According to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires tracker, Bezos is sitting on a net worth of $116 billion at the time of writing. That’s 116 piles of rice.
I’d convert that to rands, but I think we’re all depressed enough already.
If your brain just shut down trying to process that, you’re in good company.
