Last year, we told you about the Vespa Racing Sixties Limited Edition, which is a sixties-inspired scooter with gold wheels that would make Donald Trump’s toilet jealous.
Unlike anything Trump-related, however, this is a gorgeous, technically beautiful piece of machinery with all the edge and style that you’ve come to associate with the fabled Italian scooter manufacturer.
If it’s good enough for Audrey Hepburn and Iron Man, who are we to argue?
Back then, the scooter was still on the drawing board, and hadn’t yet been rolled out, with talk of that happening this year.
Well, 2020 is here and the Vespa Racing Sixties Limited Edition model was unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo India 2020.
Over to Car and Bike for the deets:
The Vespa Racing Sixties model incorporates a new white colour scheme, with red racing stripes down from the headlight along the front apron up to the tip of the front fender.
The stripes are also incorporated on the body panels, and new gold-coloured alloy wheels have been incorporated to go with the sporty theme of the limited edition model.
The engine puts out 10.32 bhp at 7,600 rpm, and 10.6 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. Braking is handled by a 200 mm front disc on the 11-inch front wheel with single-channel ABS.
The 10-inch rear wheel gets a 140 mm drum brake. Tyres are both tubeless, and instrumentation is a semi-digital panel, and it also gets a LED headlight with a daytime running light. The scooter also gets a boot lamp, along with a USB charger.
That USB charger might sound not sound like a big deal, but as someone who constantly runs down my phone battery, I can’t put too fine a point on how great it is.
There’s no denying that this scooter is a beaut, but you will have to wait just a little bit longer to get your hands on one. Piaggio India will launch the model commercially, in the second half of 2020, and as yet no word on if or when it will be available on our shores.
In the meantime, there’s no reason not to up your transport game
