As you can see from that photo above, Beaufort Villa (referred to as Beaufort Cottage by some, and the most prominent property in the photo) is the kind of home where you’re almost obliged to have a daily dip in the water.
The water is warmer than what you’ll find along the Atlantic Seaboard, but I’m not sure those who holiday on the Durban’s South Coast are going to call it optimal temperature.
All that aside, the heritage home is around 200 years old, and once belonged to Sir John Molteno, the first governor of the Cape Province, so you really would be owning a piece of history.
Here’s more info from the four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 588 square metre listing on RE/MAX:
Restored and ready to continue its commercial activity, currently home to an artist, this property will enable the new buyer to utilize the garden cottage as well as having a small enterprise in the front.
Across the road from the famous Dalebrook Pool and never to be obliterated view, Beaufort Villa awaits its new owner, that will continue the joy that this easy to maintain a home is.
The garden at the back of the home is well planted to indigenous plants and looks unaffected by the drought.
6mm glass to the front of the house assures relative soundproofing and security.
You can definitely see the artist’s influence from those pictures above, as well as these:
Out the back, away from the sea-facing view, is a lovely little garden:
Charming.
Your daily swim in Dalebrook tidal pool:
We say daily, but if you’re like most Capetonians, you’ll just talk about swimming regularly and then hardly ever get around to it.
Still, nice to have the option.
