Rassie Erasmus’ Twitter account might only be a few days old, but it’s going to be tough for him to top the videos he’s shared since joining the social media site over the weekend.
Firstly, following reports that he was considering taking on the English coaching job, he squashed those rumours while simultaneously offering us a look at his inspirational speech to the Springboks before the 2019 Rugby World Cup final.
32-12, and you’re a world champion for a good few years still.
With confirmation from SA Rugby that the account was genuine, rugby fans waited to see what our current director of rugby would share next, and we weren’t disappointed.
Rassie shared two videos to Twitter, writing “Might be interesting to some of you that there is more to team selection to just what you do on the field … As I found out the hard way (entitled)”.
SA Rugby Mag has combined both into a single video, which is worth watching in its entirety, but you can hear Rassie open up about when he lost sight of what is important from the 2:50 mark:
How refreshing to get a look behind the scenes at what really makes the team tick during the sport’s most prestigious tournament.
Amazon recently released its documentary series that takes you inside the Ozzie cricket dressing room, so maybe someone should tell them to do something similar with the Boks.
That’s the World Cup-winning Boks, lest we forget.
Given that success, perhaps Rassie’s words about not becoming entitled dicks will prove important in the years to come.
