American politics can be funny, in an ‘oh-my-god-I-can’t-believe-this-is-the-world-now’ kind of way.
Okay, it’s not that funny. It’s terrifying, and the outcome of the impeachment trial did nothing to make any of us feel any better.
If you need a break, or at least a different perspective on things, you might enjoy director and writer Jon Stewart’s latest venture into political comedy, Irresistible.
The film stars Steve Carell, and I’ll let Vulture tell you the rest:
Steve Carell [plays] a Democratic political consultant determined to make a retired Marine (Chris Cooper) mayor of a small Wisconsin town.
Yes, there are a lot of cows in the trailer. Rose Byrne co-stars as Carell’s nemesis, along with supporting cast Topher Grace, Natasha Lyonne, Mackenzie Davis, C.J. Wilson, and Will Sasso.
It looks like it’s going to be everything you’d want from a Jon Stewart/ Steve Carell film:
The film will hit cinemas on May 29, 2020.
I’ll leave you with Jon Stewart’s promo for the film on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert:
Nicely done.
