Tomorrow, tennis superstars Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal will face off for the Match in Africa 6 charity showdown.
The match takes place at Cape Town Stadium and is slated to begin at 8:30PM, but roads in and around the area will be closed well in advance of the first serve.
Those attending (I hope your tickets are valid) are encouraged to make use of public transport to get to the Cape Town Civic Centre, where a shuttle runs to the stadium every 15 minutes (or when full) from 2PM.
For a chuckle, check out the Cape Quarter gaffe that did the rounds last week.
As for road closures, many will start from midnight tonight (12AM), and run right through until late on Friday night.
This table, via Cape Town Etc, has those details:
Fail to pay attention, and you could add to that nearly a full week per year that you spend sat in traffic already.
The main event may only kick off at 8:30PM, but there is plenty to look forward to before then.
This from the event’s official website:
Both Trevor Noah and Bill Gates have been outspoken about how excited they are to do battle.
First up, here’s Trevor:
Hey @RogerFederer, you & @billgates want to play doubles against me & @RafaelNadal!? Okay. We accept your challenge, but be prepared for the crowd in SA to be on our side! See you Feb 7 in Cape Town! Masihambe! #MatchInAfrica

Over to Bill:
I’m excited to team up with @rogerfederer again for the Match in Africa Friday in Cape Town. Playing alongside Roger is always a thrill, and I can’t wait to face off against @RafaelNadal and @Trevornoah. pic.twitter.com/WMlbBtZwVC

Roger might be a stellar tennis player and consummate gentleman, but his team nicknames might need a little work:
Challenge accepted!
What’s your team name?
Ours is #Gateserer 😎 https://t.co/RzyHphgbhc— Roger Federer (@rogerfederer) January 31, 2020
‘Gateserer’? Nah, Roger, that ain’t it.
For those of us who will be watching from home, SuperSport 1 will cross to the venue for the build-up from 6:30PM on Friday.
