Drama!
Things are really heating up in Washington.
The tension between Donald Trump and top Democrat Nancy Pelosi, who led the campaign to impeach him, is no secret.
But it all became rather petty at Trump’s State of the Union address, when the two faced off in a series of very obvious snubs and gestures.
We recently learned that it’s very easy to troll Trump, and indeed his supporters, but Pelosi levelled up.
Here’s NDTV with some context:
Donald Trump was seeing Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the first time since she stormed out of a White House meeting four months ago. She and Trump have not spoken since their October meeting, both sides said.
On to the events as they unfolded:
First, Trump snubbed Pelosi when she tried to shake his hand, from the 25-second mark:
Very mature.
Then Pelosi ripped up her copy of Trump’s speech:
Again, very mature.
When asked why she ripped it up, she delivered what’s likely to become an iconic line:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi on why she ripped up President Trump’s speech: “Because it was the courteous thing to do considering the alternatives.” pic.twitter.com/nYTjAZAwGo

I’m stealing that one. Consider it snatched.
Then the White House wrote an unnecessarily dramatic Twitter tirade:
Simmer down. No one was harmed in the ripping of a few pieces of paper.
United States secretary of state Mike Pompeo joined in on the White House’s silliness with this:
What Pompeo didn’t realise is that the image of The Simpsons’ Lisa Simpson comes from an episode called ‘Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington’ and shows an idealistic Lisa’s reaction to discovering the blatant corruption there.
Oops. You played yourself, there, buddy.
Naturally, there were memes, but let’s finish with my highlight of Trump’s address, ‘Stanktuary’:
