It feels like we’ve been waiting forever for the latest film in the James Bond franchise to come out.
After hints and short clips shared mainly via Twitter, we finally saw the official trailer for No Time To Die, in December last year.
The longer we wait, the more critics speculate about the films that will follow.
This is Daniel Craig’s last romp as the famous spy, and rumour has it he could be replaced by a woman.
WIRED seems to think that the latest trailer, which aired during the Super Bowl, is a metaphor for things to come.
First, the trailer:
The new trailer doesn’t really provide us with a great deal of new information. However, that opening bit could hold the key to the future of Bond:
Bond (Daniel Craig) asks Nomi (Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch), “You ever flown one of these things before?” She responds, “Nope,” and the camera pulls out to reveal them both in a small plane about to be dropped out of a much bigger one.
The plane (the small one) drops into the sky and she steers it into action. It’s a small moment, but it’s also possibly a metaphor.
It’s been rumored that Nomi, a double-0 agent, could play a major role in the franchise going forward. No Time to Die will be Craig’s last turn as 007 and it’s possible that Lynch could replace him. If this trailer says anything, it’s that she’s ready.
There are many Bond fans out there who have probably been thrown into a panic by this. Expect #NotMyBond to start trending on Twitter at some point.
In the meantime, take comfort in the fact that the gadgets look pretty much the same, there will be high-speed chases of various kinds, and probably some gratuitous sex thrown in to complete the formula.
Sit tight, it’s coming to cinemas soon.
