Diehard NFL fans in South Africa are probably feeling a little rundown at this point, with Super Bowl LIV (that’s Super Bowl 54) starting bright and early this morning, at around 2:30AM local time.
Props to those who woke up and stayed the distance, but for the rest of us, there are always the highlights.
You can watch the NFL’s official Super Bowl 2020 highlights here (they don’t allow embeds), or watch these highlights via YouTube channel ‘Highlights Heaven’.
If you’re just after the final few minutes of action, condensed into under two minutes, this should do the trick:
It always stings a little more when the opposition comes from behind.
You can see footage from the trophy presentation here.
For an overview of the match, here’s CNBC:
It took 50 years, but the wait is now over for the Kansas City Chiefs after coming back from a 10-point deficit in the third quarter to beat the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
The Chiefs, which last appeared in a Super Bowl in 1970, won their second Vince Lombardi Trophy in three Super Bowl appearances.
Trailing 20-10 at the end of the third quarter, the Chiefs rallied in the fourth to beat the 49ers 31-20. After being shut out in the third quarter, the Chiefs scored 21 unanswered points in the final quarter.
Nothing like snapping a 50-year drought to claim victory.
(Liverpool fans haven’t been waiting quite as long for an English Premier League title, but you can bet they’ll be celebrating hard when they wrap up the title with weeks left in the season.)
President Donald Trump was quick to congratulate the Chiefs on Twitter, although he couldn’t even get that right.
He deleted this one shortly after sending it:
Why, you ask?
Oh, just the fact that the Chiefs are, and have always been, based in Kansas City, Missouri, a different state to Kansas.
Congrats to the Chiefs, wherever they may be based.
