RG Snyman is a big unit.
According to RugbyPass, he stands 2,07 metres tall, and tops the scales at 115kg.
(Honda Heat, the team he represents in Japan, has him weighing 120kg – the Kobe beef must be good.)
What those stats don’t take into consideration is how large he looks when in full flow, with his hair (and beard) billowing out behind him, having rampaging through a gap in the opposition’s defence.
He’s not averse to running straight through a defender, either.
A prominent member of the Springbok ‘Bomb Squad’, Snyman came off the bench in the 59th minute of the 2019 Rugby World Cup final, which the Springboks went on to win 32-12.
I’ll never tire of saying that.
During his recent stint in Japan, Snyman has been a regular starter for Honda Heat in the Japanese Top League, and fans of the outfit will never forget the impact he has made during his time there.
He has racked up a number of tries, but his impact has been far greater than that.
Let’s start with this offload:

How about this, from a kick-off, during Honda Heat’s match against the Kubota Spears?

Stop it – that’s just ridiculous.
It reminds me of playing against one of the Paarl outfits as a youngster, and arriving early on a Saturday morning to see that the tallest player from your Southern Suburbs school comes up the neck of their inside centre.
You love to see a line break from a lock, and then he busts out the kick:

Let’s get another angle on that:
You’ve seen the clip of RG Snyman’s remarkable try but this is the footage that will really excite Munster fans. pic.twitter.com/TeO55mWdyB

The fullback is probably rather happy that he opted to kick ahead.

Jared’s account regularly features great content about South African rugby, and rugby in general, and is worthy of a follow.
Back to RG, and this pilfer, as he reaches over the top and nonchalantly plucks the ball from the base of the opposition’s maul.
Incredible:
RG Snyman is definitely overage for the Top League in Japan. pic.twitter.com/KIq3dLch12

One-handed, nogal.
The same steal, from a different angle:

It’s almost disdainful.
Munster fans will be licking their lips ahead of Snyman’s arrival, having had a pretty torrid start to their season.
Today also happens to be RG’s birthday, so good tidings, Rugby World Cup winner.
Let’s finish with a very important reminder:
