If you’re afraid of flying, then this one isn’t for you.
For some reason, despite all of the plane crashes that have happened recently, and the controversy surrounding the Boeing 737 MAX, someone thought it would be a great idea to create a flight crash simulator.
The new “immersive plane experience” called FLIGHT is “not recommended for people of a nervous disposition”, writes The Independent.
The simulator will allow some participants to experience a plane crash. There are two alternate realities and two possible outcomes, and you won’t know which one you’re getting until you’re inside the simulator.
Created by Darkfield, the pop-up show takes place in a converted 40ft shipping container that’s been transformed into an exact replica of a Boeing 707 aircraft. Once onboard, participants will be plunged into total darkness, while 360 degree sound and sensory effects will put each audience member at the centre the narrative…
Darkfield is a theatrical project that uses binaural sound to create a 3D stereo sound sensation, plus darkness and movement, to immerse the audience in fast-paced, constantly evolving narratives.
The trailer doesn’t give much away, but it captures the feel of the experience:
The ‘performance’ is happening in Nottingham in the UK, so you’d have to fly there if you’re in South Africa. Then you’d have to fly back, having just shat yourself in a plane crash simulator.
If that’s your thing, go wild.
