A friend who works in advertising once told me that if he had his way, all company names, logos, and product names would have to undergo the ’10-year-old boy’ test.
Basically, put the name/logo in a room with a couple of kids, and if they start laughing at it – scrap it, no questions asked.
Subaru could have benefitted from this. Although, this is one of those times where the adults in the room really should have been able to pick up on the joke.
That’s why Jalopnik is convinced that naming their new car the Forester Ultimate Customised Kit Special edition, or ‘FUCKS Edition’, is actually a challenge from the company to see how many writers would pepper their articles with the expletive.
Jalopnik rose to the challenge and so will we.
First, take a look at the car:
Nice. I also approve of the fact that they aren’t shying away from the name. It’s there for everyone to see, in all its glory.
The current Forester, a fairly handsome vehicle out of the box, looks fresh in blue with red accenting here and I’m a fan of the STI interior as well. Enkei wheels look good on almost all Japanese cars. From this video, it’s clear that the FUCKS is officially affiliated in with Subaru, as it’s parked in the company’s show booth.
For the more technically minded, the FUCKS has a 2,0-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 115 kW and 145 lb-ft of torque. It is connected to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission which sends power to a symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

As for how it got its name, no one seems to be able to get hold of Subaru to find out. It’s garnering the company plenty of publicity, so perhaps it’s a masterstroke.
Whatever the reasons, they’re clearly DTF and not afraid to show it.
