Hollywood is currently obsessed with sequels and remakes, so it’s not exactly surprising that Swede Ruben Östlund’s black comedy, Force Majeure, is now getting an English-language makeover.
Östlund’s movie was Sweden’s representative at the 2015 Oscars, and now Hollywood heavyweights Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are the leading names attached to Downhill, set for release on Valentine’s Day next month.
That’s February 14, for anyone who needs a reminder.
A short description of the movie plot below via IndieWire:
Barely escaping an avalanche during a family ski vacation in the Alps, a married couple is thrown into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate their lives and how they feel about each other.
Whereas the original film did have a darker approach to getting laughs, Downhill looks like it might be written for a broader appeal.
Still looks like a decent watch, though:
If you want to take a break from watching Don’t F**K With Cats to enjoy something a little silly, you might be in luck.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, you will always be Veep’s Selina Meyer to me.
