The Consumer Electronics Show is in full swing at the moment, and is promising to be the biggest event in the history of CES.
People are flocking to Las Vegas in the thousands to check out the latest in technology, spot new trends and stare slack-jawed at inventions that may be coming our way over the course of the year.
We hopped on over to BGR for a look at some of the groundbreaking inventions on show this year, and picked our top five favourites from the bunch.
There is no guarantee the market will see all of these released in 2020, but it’s worth a dabble.
Abeye Lexilens Eyewear
This is by far my favourite product at the show. It’s very cool and very useful.
In consumer tech, the word “smart” is typically used to describe a device with internet connectivity or automatic functionality. But Abeye’s Lexilens reading aid eyewear for dyslexics is a different kind of smart.
The Abeye Lexilens uses specially designed electronic lenses to help filter out the mirrored images dyslexics see while attempting to read. The result is instantaneous, and it works regardless of language without any required training.
This could make all the difference in the world to a kid who struggles with dyslexia.
Sunflower Home Awareness System
This is either the best home security system ever created, or the way that the robots eventually take over and kill us all.
VIZIO Elevate Sound Bar
Good music or television needs an excellent sound system to really elevate the experience.
Speaking of good television, have you watched Don’t F**k With Cats yet?
Inupathy
Have you ever wished that your dog could talk? The bad news is that that isn’t going to happen anytime soon. Inupathy, though. basically turns your dog into a Tamagotchi:
The device, which goes by the same name as the company that created it, straps onto your pup and monitors heart rate patterns to determine whether your dog is excited, stressed, interested, happy, or relaxed. It then communicates the dog’s emotional state using an LED display on top that changes colors according to mood.
This product is cool, but I also included it because the video is rather weird. By the end of it, the dog is better at expressing its emotions than the child.
JARVISH X-AR Smart Helmet
Dare I say it would look rather fantastic paired with an electric Vespa scooter? It would be the ultimate meeting of advanced technology and classic style.
On top of information like speed, time, weather forecast, navigation directions, and alerts, the HUD can also bring up a live video feed from a rear-facing camera on the helmet so the rider can see what’s behind him or her. It’s all controlled using voice commands and it even integrates with Alexa.
You can check out more from the CES, here.
It looks like 2020 is going to be a very exciting year for technology.
