When it comes to pizza, I’m happy to use it in the way that God intended.
Open box, grab slice (maybe fold slice depending on topping density), and eat pizza. Done.
Others have taken it to the next level, turning the very process of making a pizza into an art form (something our local favourite has perfected over the years).
On the world stage, Justin Wadstein is a pizza spinning champion who holds 13 world titles. In the words of WIRED, he turns dough into a “magical medium of pizza expression”.
Wadstein’s spinning obsession started when he was working at his grandparents’ pizza shop. He would watch the employees toss the dough in the air and thought it was pretty cool, so he started spinning everything from binders to pillows and folding chairs.
Finally, he turned his attention to pizza dough.
At the tender age of 19, he competed in his first World Pizza Championship, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Look at him go:
What a legend.
Speaking of legends, Cape Town’s very own pizza legend, Butler’s, is offering some great weekly deals to ease you into the new year.
While your Butler won’t be spinning your pizza, they will be delivering it, piping hot, to your door.
Because, while watching pizza dough spin is fun, eating a wood-fired pizza is better.
No competition.
