With impeachment hanging over his head, and a battle for reelection later this year, he gave the order to execute a fatal drone strike on top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani.
Whilst most Westerners tend to agree that Soleimani was a terrible human, the ramifications of the deadly attack will likely be far-reaching, and the threat of another protracted war looms large.
Fresh off his holiday, Trevor Noah returned to The Daily Show to take a closer look at what led to this decision, and the ripple effect that it will have across the Middle East.
