Some people just can’t ‘lottery’.
In Europe, they usually get it right. We recently did a story on the 25 winners who hit the jackpot over 25 consecutive years of The National Lottery in the UK. Their purchases included everything from boob jobs to houses, to yachts. It’s great to see people living their best lives.
Then there’s Steve Thompson who recently won the EuroMillions, and who must have some South African ancestry, because like so many South African lottery winners, he’s now refusing to leave his job and can’t stop going on about saving money.
Over to The Daily Mail for more:
Thompson, 42, has treated himself to a second-hand car after scooping a £105 million jackpot.
[He] says flashy motors are a ‘waste of money’ and is continuing to work because if makes him ‘feel normal’.
When Thompson won last month, he was less annoying. Now, this:
Mr Thomson told Mirror Online that the jackpot set him on an ’emotional rollercoaster’ he described as ‘very stressful’ and leaving him struggling to sleep. He said that going back to work part-time was his way of coping with the situation.
‘I feel normal and that’s how I want to stay,’ he said. ‘I’m trying to finish some jobs before Christmas.’
‘I won’t be able to finish all of them, but I’m doing what I can between meetings.’
If I won around R2 billion, I’d be onto my second margarita right now, somewhere nice, having long since clicked ‘send’ on that resignation email.
Thompson is doing it wrong. His wife, on the other hand, has quit her job and is having a great time.
Good for you, Lenka.
